Presentation of Region

The Remetea Commune is situated in the south-eastern Bihor County, in the Beius Depression.

Its neighbours are: Cabesti Commune to the North, Pocola, Curatele Communes and the City of Beius to the South, the Iad Valley in the East- belongs to Curatele Commune; Rabagani and Pomezeu Commune to the West.

The total area of the commune is 6670 ha and the medium altitude ranges between 400-800 m.

The comunne is crossed by the Meziad and Roasia Valleys, tributaries of the Crisul Negru River.

Average annual precipitation ranges from about 800-1000 mm,  throughout the Rosia Hydrographical Basin, and because the Rosia River drains large karst areas  in the Padurea Craiului Mountains, the flow capacity has high values.

The two valleys are not very deep, under 2 m, and the flow velocity is quite high. During severe rains, flash floods occur, causing strong erosion of the banks.

The relief is predominant hilly and sub-mountainous, represented especially by Meziad Hills. The soils have a poor humus quantity, also containing low amounts of N, P, K; soil having in general an acid reaction ( pH levels range from 4.95  to 5.80).

The Comune is made up of the villages: Remetea, Dragoteni, Meziad, Petreasa and Soimus. The first  spiritual and the material life attestation  throughout the commune is dated in 1204. Certain documentary attestations  come frome 1213-1319-1442.
